Reporting to the senior manager, corporate responsibility, the associate manager, corporate responsibility, will serve as a member of the corporate responsibility team and representative of the community foundation in our work to deliver excellent service to our donors and corporate partners. The community foundation partners with more than 100 corporations, many of whom offer competitive grant programs. As part of the externally focused corporate responsibility team, this individual is responsible for supporting the strategy that seeks to establish Silicon Valley Community Foundation as the premier philanthropic partner for charitably-minded individuals and institutions.
Salary commensurate with experience.
Assist a team dedicated to business relationships as well as support the community foundation’s Corporate Advised Funds’ (CAF) and Customized Philanthropy Services (CPS) clients’ programs.
Actively manage a portfolio of corporate clients. Responsibilities include assisting with grant recommendations and transactions, providing excellent customer service to all clients, and being knowledgeable about the full scope of their corporate citizenship and grantmaking programs, including funding guidelines and criteria.
Assist in the implementation of strategic grantmaking programs, including development of guidelines, eligibility criteria, timelines, goals and measurement. Programs may include the distribution of product, cash and/or disaster relief support.
Support corporate grantmaking programs as needed, including extensive proposal review and evaluation of competitive grant cycles. Ensure alignment with grantmaking strategies including application review and evaluation of applicants’ organizational, financial and programmatic strengths and weaknesses and overall alignment with grantmaking guidelines.
Remain informed about and aware of current corporate philanthropy and corporate social responsibility trends/best practices, and provide guidance to corporate partners when requested.
Remain informed on legal, accounting, investment and technology issues as they relate to charitable giving and grantmaking regulations and best practices.
Conduct research on nonprofit organizations, companies and events as needed. As requested, prepare client deliverables.
Support project-based consulting engagements related to corporate social responsibility programs. Work may include: program design, communications, benchmarking, etc.
Support the work of Managers of Corporate Responsibility (MCRs), as assigned, in their efforts to deliver responsive, effective and strategic services to our CAFs.
Synthesize and produce complex reports for clients on a regular and ad hoc basis
Maintain and update database records and shared electronic filing system.
Update and maintain procedures and guidelines for each corporate grant program and for the overall department.
Support the execution of key events for corporate donors, clients and prospects.
Assist Corporate Responsibility team as needed in accomplishing department goals such as ensuring excellent customer service, improving operational efficiencies and hosting engaging events.
Collaborate with other departments, especially IT, development and grants, gifts and compliance to ensure CAFs are experiencing world-class service from the community foundation.
Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent of, at minimum, three years of office/foundation experience.
High computer fluency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly in Excel.
Experience in event management.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to shift gears and work on highly varied programs in various systems throughout the day.
Excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to work with diverse people and groups in multicultural environments.
Attention to detail and superior organizational skills, with an ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
Familiarity with foundations and nonprofits highly preferred.
Proactively able to manage work flow to meet deadlines.
Initiative, good judgment, and ability to work with humor even when under pressure.
Strong sense of office protocol.
Ability to adapt to new and changing situations.
